As my name already indicates, I am an Asian. But what does that imply, what are my traits as an Asian? First of all, I would like to think that what makes me unique is not just me being an Asian. There is much more to a person than just where they originate from.
What defines each one of us
Today, I would like to take the chance and talk about myself. Not because I am keen on talking about myself but because it seems to be an interest in many of my readers and customers. Me being an Asian seems to trigger many questions and at the same time seems to be equally attractive.
But before I go into the topic of being an Asian and what makes this trait special, I would like to point out that I truly believe that what makes each one of us unique is far more than just where our origins lay. No matter if one is an Asian, a Caucasian, American, European, or from Latin America, what makes us all unique is our personality, the way we think, the way we feel, and the way we live our lives - and in an ideal world we would all be free to live our lives to the fullest.
The Asian way of life & beauty
As an Asian grown up in America I have witnessed both sides of culture, the Asian one as well as the American one. And even if I was brought up in a relatively progressive family I still felt the differences on a daily basis.
One of the most obvious differences especially during my childhood and teenage years was the way the two cultures I lived in treated the sun. While my mother, as well as my grandmother and all my aunts, always urged me to avoid direct sunlight on my skin for keeping my skin colour as light as possible, all my friends from school went on beach vacations to particularly sunbathe and get their skin tanned. In the beginning, I was quite confused about this, then I felt insecure about how to handle the matter, wanting to fit in on the one hand and on the other hand not wanting to be unrespectful towards my family’s beliefs. Of course, the more I grew up and developed my own personality and way of life, the less I felt torn. I have become quite of a sun lover but at the same time do not tan as often. I like and enjoy the lighter colour of my skin.
Light skin as part of a lifestyle
As a matter of fact, one of the reasons I chose to keep a rather fair skin tone is the connection to the style of geishas. I have always been fascinated by them and spend quite some amount of time studying their story and culture. As geishas are the Asian, more precisely the Japanese symbol of feminine allure I have always felt a certain connection and respect towards them. Mastering the artistry of subduction and pure feminity has and always will be one of my lifelong goals. Like them, I see myself as an entertainer of the highest class and play the role of many women when I entertain. Therefore, I practise my skills in conversation and hosting as much as I focus on mastering the art of beauty. Also, I am very comprehensive of the concept of the hidden that is inside and make sure that my clients can truly be who they are when they spend time with me - always maintaining the strictest confidentiality, as geishas do as well.
